How to Play Roulette
Each round of roulette begins with players placing their bets. The dealer will spin the ball on the spinning roulette wheel. The players can continue to place bets while the wheel spins until the dealer announces that there will be “no more bets”. Once the ball drops on a number, the dealer will announce the number and color before placing the marker on the table. They will then sweep the table of all losing bets before paying out the winning bets.
Types of bets in Roulette
Inside bets: Bets on one or more numbers. You can bet on one to six numbers at a time. These bets have a higher payout, but a lower chance of winning.
Outside bets: Placed on ranges of numbers, such as high-low, black or red, even or odd, or one of three rows. These bets have a higher chance of winning, but a lower payout.
How to play Texas Hold ‘Em
Two cards, known as the hole cards, are dealt face down to each player, these cards are the player’s private hand. Then, 5 cards are dealt face up at the center of the table in 3 stages. The players will place bets based on the combination of their hole cards and community cards.
The Flop – the dealer will lay down 3 cards, face up. Each player has an opportunity to check, bet, call or fold.
The Turn – the dealer will lay down 1 card, face up. Each player has an opportunity to check, bet, call or fold.
The River – the dealer will again lay down 1 card, face up. Each player will have a final opportunity to check, bet, call or fold.
The goal of the game is to create the best 5 card poker hand by combining the hole cards in the players hand with the community cards revealed on the flop, turn and river. Players will win or lose depending on luck, bluffing skills, and ability to read other players at the table. It’s up to the player to decide when to take a risk versus when to fold and save their money for another round.
How to Play Blackjack
Each player is dealt 2 cards face up. The dealer deals themselves 2 cards, with one facing down. The dealer will go around the table, asking if the player would like to “hit” or “stay”. If a player hits, the dealer will deal them one more card, until the player decides to stay. If the player receives a card that puts them over 21, they “bust”. The dealer will remove that player’s cards and bet before moving on to the next player. Once all players have had their turn, the dealer reveals their face down card. If the dealer has lower than 17 showing, they must hit. If the dealer has 17 or higher, they must stay. The goal is to get 21, or closer to 21 than the dealer. Number cards are worth face value, face cards are worth 10 and an ace can either be a 1 or 11.
If a player receives a 10 or face card along with an ace, that’s a blackjack and that player automatically wins twice their bet.
Typically, if a player receives 2 cards totaling 10 or 11 on the initial deal, they can “double down”. This means they can double their initial bet, but only receive 1 card, which the dealer will deal sideways to indicate a double down call.
If a player receives 2 cards of the same value, for example two 10s, they have the option to “split”. When a player splits, they turn their one hand into two hands, and must place another bet of equal value for each card. The dealer will then deal a second card to each split card and the player can either hit or stay for each hand.
Insurance bets are available when the dealer has an ace showing on their face up card. Essentially, the player is betting that the dealer has a blackjack and must place a bet that is half of their initial bet. If the dealer does have a blackjack, all players lose (except those who were dealt a blackjack as well). However, if a player placed an insurance bet, they are paid 2 to 1, to which they will break even. If the dealer does not have a blackjack, the insurance bet is lost.
